Singing is good for your mental health and general well-being, the experts believe. And so do we. And singing in a choir doubles the benefits. Estonians could even say that singing gives you power.
So please join our #time4estonia choir as it’s time for
LAUL = song
Did you know that in Estonia the most popular public event with the biggest audience is a choral music festival? It is Laulupidu (Song Festival) which was established 200 years ago.
This unique festival is the cornerstone of Estonian identity. In July 2019, a total of 198 929 people took part of the Song and Dance Festival, a tradition that is inscribed in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Singing is deeply rooted in Estonian society and history. It has shown us the way to freedom and given hope. If you wish to learn more about the power of singing, then do not hold back and watch this compelling film ’The Singing Revolution’ by James and Maureen Tusty.

And now, it’s time to join the 30,000 singers to sing along to one of the most beloved songs of the festival – ’He Flies Towards the Beehive’. Words by Juhan Liiv (1864-1913), music Peep Sarapik (1949-1994), conductor Vaike Uibopuu.
