#time4estonia EESTI

Oh, hello! Thank you for your virtual visit.
It’s #time4estonia

Our self-isolation-made series is not your usual travel guide. We believe that sharing things we like and enjoy would allow you to get the best idea of Estonia and Estonians, including our idiosyncrasies.

EESTI ([ˈeːsti] Estonia)

Did you know that on 24 February 2018 Estonia celebrated 100 years of independence? We’ve celebrated it so many ways and days that you see, two years on and we still can’t keep quiet about it. On that special occasion Estonia invited people to stand up and dance for the country’s birthday. It was called ’Eesti tantsib’ (Estonia is dancing). Please enjoy the clip of one of our favourite groups – a team from the Eesti Vabaõhumuuseum / Estonian Open Air Museum.

This museum is an absolute hit with the families (take a virtual tour here: https://evm.ee/eng/virtual-tours). It is situated in a quiet seaside Rocca-al-Mare area of Tallinn. In its vast forested area you can tavel back in time, get acquainted with 18-20th century rural Estonia’s village, its buildings, lifestyle and traditions, have a picnic and escape from the city life. The museum’s summer-programme is full of concerts, games, workshops and dances.
