The Minister of Economic Affairs and Information Technology, Tiit Riisalo visited London on 6th – 8th February with a business delegation to support the activities of the Estonian venture capital and the start-up sectors and to discuss cooperation opportunities in the field of technology, as well as financing issues of deep technology companies and the continued support of Ukraine.
“We are focusing on deep technologies in our innovation policy, and therefore good relations between like-minded countries and entrepreneurs are important. As a country, we want to be attractive to foreign talents as well and encourage investments to come to Estonia,” said minister Riisalo.
During the visit, the minister met the UK Digital and Technology Minister Saqib Bhatt, the Head of NATO DIANA Deeph Chana, Minister of State for Business and Trade Nusrat Ghani and representatives of the British Airways.
In addition, as a part of the visit, the minister met the head of the Central Digital and Data Office, Paul Willmott, who also attended Nortal’s networking event for innovative digital solutions aimed at the public sector at the Estonian embassy.
The minister also participated in the meeting of the Estonian venture capital association EstVCA with the British VCA, the umbrella organization of venture capital funds in the United Kingdom, and a reception called the Estonian Startup Embassy organized by Invest Estonia, Work in Estonia, the embassy and Startup Estonia.
