Concert for Ukraine at St. Peters Church, Belsize Park, London

A benefit concert for Ukraine featuring two top string soloists under the baton of Estonian conductor Andres Kaljuste.
Steven Isserlis and Irène Duval will be our soloists with Andres Kaljuste conducting the Whittington Festival Players. Musicians have felt powerless in the face of conflict and speaking through our instruments is one way we can express solidarity with the victims. As the Whittington Festival in North Shropshire is coming up next week (19-22 of May) we decided to add a London concert in support of humanitarian aid for Ukraine, involving as many of our players as possible as well as Steven Isserlis who is our Hon. Patron. All the artists involved have donated their services.
The day of our concert, the 25th of May, is the day Steven was due to play in Odessa, where his father was born.Ticket proceeds from the concert will be split between UNICEF’s and the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeals, with a retiring collection for the Lisa Batiashvilli Fund for Ukrainian Musicians
