More info and tickets:

For the third concert in the Gould Standard series, Thomas Gould is joined by pianist Kristjan Randalu and cellist Stephan Braun who roam effortlessly between the worlds of classical and jazz.

Thomas first met Estonian pianist Kristjan Randalu in 2001 when they were both students at London’s Royal Academy of Music. Kristjan has since gone on to become one of the most talented and original pianist-composers of our time, fusing the purity of his native Estonian folk music with a sophistication and wit reminiscent of Django Bates, and with a peerless keyboard technique to match.

German cellist Stephan Braun has been a pioneer of the advancement of the cello as a solo instrument in jazz, and combines an almost superhuman virtuosity with total ease extending his sonic possibilities with electronics. He is one of the grooviest musicians around today.

Together they will play music from Kristjan’s album Desde Manhattan and Stephan’s album The Raid, and classical arrangements including the Largo from Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, from which this concert takes its title.
